JMI Promotes Key Executives


Global motorsports agency consolidates organization structure, names President, Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary 

INDIANAPOLIS: October 5, 2010 – Just Marketing International (JMI), the global leader in motorsports marketing, promoted several executives as part of its long-term plan for continued growth.  Zak Brown, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of JMI, announced three key appointments today which reflect the continued growth of the agency and will increase efficiency across the organization.

At the same time, JMI’s corporate structure has been consolidated into three departments: Operations, Finance & Administration and Partnership Development.

Jon Flack has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of JMI. Flack, previously Executive Vice President of Client Services, now takes increased responsibility for the day-to-day business of the agency and the company’s Operations department.

Kevin Thimjon, Chief Financial Officer at JMI, has been confirmed additionally as Chief Administrative Officer and will lead the Finance & Administration department, which includes human resources, purchasing, travel, legal and IT services together with finance.

Wes Zirkle, the company’s General Counsel, has been announced as Corporate Secretary and sits with Brown, Flack and Thimjon on JMI’s Leadership Team with oversight of JMI’s corporate governance.

Partnership Development, JMI’s sales division, has been organized geographically into three regions:  Americas; Europe; and Asia/Middle East under the global leadership of Brown.

Brown founded Just Marketing International in 1995. In addition to brokering major sponsorship deals within the most popular motorsports series around the world, he is credited with playing a key role in the historic movement that successfully lifted NASCAR’s 50+ year ban on spirits sponsorship in racing. His work and industry influence has been recognized with awards from BusinessF1 magazine, PROMO magazine and Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal and his expert opinion has been sought by FOX, ESPN, USA Today and TIME magazine. A former professional race car driver, Brown has recently revived his driving career by founding a new FIA GT3 team, United Autosports.


Flack joined JMI in 2002 and has held overall responsibility for JMI’s client programs in both domestic and international arenas. His experience with corporations such as SBC and Conseco Corporation provided him a strong foundation to lead JMI’s largest division, with a current global team of 95 creating, managing and executing industry-leading programs that deliver against quantifiable benchmarks. Flack’s experience managing sponsorships involving the NCAA, NFL, Conseco Fieldhouse, IndyCar and NASCAR, have yielded insights into ways to maximize efficiency through a single-point-of-contact relationship structure.


Thimjon joined JMI in early 2010 with more than 20 years of financial management experience. He is a Certified Public Accountant who has held a number of senior executive positions, including President and CFO of Bell Industries, a technology solutions company, and CFO of the Systems Integration unit of Stanley Security Solutions, a division of The Stanley Works. Additionally, he has held a number of key roles with ISR Solutions, a high-tech security firm, including Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.


Zirkle joined JMI in 2004, with his previous experience as an attorney including nearly five years at CMG Worldwide, where among other clients he represented dozens of celebrities, I [heart] NY® and Evernham Motorsports, a NASCAR team. Zirkle has negotiated some of the largest and most complex contracts in NASCAR, Formula One, Grand-Am, NHRA, ALMS, World Rally and other major series.
