CODETEL, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), to offer Customers in the Dominican Republic Access to the Latest Hosted Microsoft applications with iNNERHOST

Miami, FL — July 9, 2001 – CODETEL, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications and the Dominican Republic’s largest telecommunications provider, announced today their partnership with iNNERHOST to provide complex managed hosting and applications services to their customers. As part of the partnership, iNNERHOST will bring the latest Microsoft applications to CODETEL’s corporate and enterprise customers, while CODETEL offers the connectivity and access to their expanding customer base of more than a million customers in the Dominican Republic.

The announcement with CODETEL comes just two weeks following announcements with telecommunications giants – The Telefónica Group, a leader in telecommunications in Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets and CanTV.NET, the largest Internet Service Provider in Venezuela.

“Our strategy is to partner with telecommunications carriers who have already developed enduring relationships with their customers,” said Luis Navarro, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of iNNERHOST. “CODETEL brings strong ties to their customers as well as an existing infrastructure, while we provide the upper layer of provisioning and management of software applications.”

According to CODETEL, there are more than 200,000 businesses in the Dominican Republic. Approximately 5,000 of these businesses are small and medium-sized companies. Through research conducted in May 2001, the company found there is an increase in demand from their customers for the latest software applications via a hosted subscription model.

“We want to make it easy for our customers to develop their on-line presence, as well as offer them productivity tools to enhance their business operations,” said Deisy de Salcedo, Director for Advanced Communications. “We are pleased to partner with iNNERHOST in bringing the latest Microsoft applications to our customers in the Dominican Republic.”

CODETEL has been offering hosting services to their customers for more than 5 years. Currently, CODETEL enjoys 90% market share for residential and business lines; more than 50% in the cellular and beeper market and more than 95% market share in offering connectivity and Internet access. The relationship with iNNERHOST will enable CODETEL to offer customers Microsoft’s .NET suite of server applications for building, deploying and managing scalable, integrated, web-based solutions and services. iNNERHOST’s exclusive relationship with Microsoft puts the company in the enviable position of being able to provide these applications via a hosted model.

Among the applications that will be available July 2001 to CODETEL’s customers include the just-released Microsoft Office XP™. Office XP enables collaboration for everyone by revolutionizing the way people work with others on documents. Customers are able to add on such features and functionality as Microsoft Commerce Server 2000™, a comprehensive system for quickly building scalable, personalized business-to-consumer and business-to-business e-commerce solutions and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server™ – a highly reliable, scalable, and easy to manage messaging and collaboration infrastructure.
